New Haven Healthy Start knows that one of the best ways to support pregnant women, mothers and their babies to ensure healthy birth outcomes is to create a strong support network in their community. If you are a New Haven neighborhood resident, you can help at-risk moms and their babies by joining the Baby Buddy Program.
New Haven Healthy Start (NHHS) provides outreach and care coordination services to approximately 1800 women annually. Since inception, it has provided services to more than 20,000 pregnant women and infants through partnerships with maternal and child health care providers such as Yale-New Haven Hospital, Hospital of St. Raphael, Hill Health Center, Fair Haven Community Health Center and New Haven Family Alliance. Everyday, NHHS provides a continuum of improvements to a fragmented maternal and child healthcare system using a comprehensive care coordination model. Among other things, the model includes case management and outreach services and a Consortium that meets six times a year to discuss issues affecting maternal and infant health in the City of New Haven.

A healthy community is a rich community. When we enjoy good health, when we engage in wellness activities – and when we support people living with disease or disabilities -- there are profound physical and psychological benefits. Simply put, we are all stronger and happier. To support the health and wellness initiatives in your community is to put good health within reach of all.
When families, schools and communities take the view that children and youth are valued and respected assets to society, they necessarily support environments that nurture youth development. Children raised to embrace positive social values, to seek self-understanding, and to value their self-worth grow to become community-minded young adults with a sense of belonging and a belief in their resiliency. See how you can help our community's children grow into tomorrow's leaders.
Greater New Haven’s vibrancy is linked to its communities’ support of its neighborhoods, public gardens and sports, as well as its commitment to the protection of its people and pets.
